While it would be awesome to see a full cast reunion, it is highly unlikely that Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz Magro will ever film together for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. Sammi and Ronnie were two of the eight roommates on the original series, Jersey Shore. The duo is best known for their toxic on-again-off-again relationship throughout the entire duration of the series. Not long after the series finale, the couple called it quits for good.
In 2018, the entire cast was offered the opportunity to reunite and film the spin-off series together. While everyone else was eager to jump on the opportunity, Sammi opted out. Her main reason for turning down the opportunity was that she did not want to film alongside Ronnie. Due to their toxic past, Sammi did not want to put herself in a situation that may bring drama back into her life. It is unclear how much communication she had with the rest of the cast over the years; however, Sammi recently made her return to the show by filming for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation alongside the rest of the cast.
Sammi Only Returned To Jersey Shore Because Ronnie Isn’t Filming
While fans were overjoyed to hear the news of Sammi’s upcoming return to the show, it also came as a shock. Sammi has avoided filming for nearly five years now. It’s assumed that the reason Sammi has finally agreed to appear on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation is that Ronnie is no longer filming alongside the rest of the cast. Ronnie stepped away from Jersey Shore in 2021 after he was arrested for a domestic violence incident. Despite making two brief appearances, Ronnie has not filmed with the cast since. This allowed for the perfect opportunity for Sammi to make her first-ever appearance on the spinoff show while continuing to avoid her toxic ex.
Filming Together May Bring Unnecessary Drama To Sammi & Ronnie’s Lives
Sammi and Ronnie were the sources of the drama that took place throughout the original series. Ever since Jersey Shore came to an end and the couple called it quits for good, Sammi has been keeping herself out of the drama. She now lives a more down-to-earth life and even has a new boyfriend.
Ronnie, on the other hand, has continued to live a drama-filled life and recently started working to better his life. In his recent Jersey Shore: Family Vacation cameo, Ronnie revealed he now has full custody of his four-year-old daughter. Since both Ronnie and Sammi live completely different lives now, it is highly unlikely either of them wants to risk bringing drama back into them by filming together.
Although it’s assumed that Sammi filmed for a few episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, it’s unclear how permanent her return will be. As for Ronnie, he has not mentioned any plans to make a full return to filming alongside his former roomies again. Should Ronnie make a full comeback, it’s unlikely Sammi will continue to film as well. She could, however, continue to film scenes that Ronnie is not a part of. Unfortunately, due to their toxic past, it’s unlikely that the two will ever film for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation together.
